Colorless and volatility liquid, has a fragrance, the solubility in water is 30.4g/100ml(20℃), amalgamate with ethanol, soluble in diethyl ether and methanol.
Use: Methyl formate is an important intermediate in C1 chemical. And Methyl formate is the synthesis of organic materials. It is used to synthesize methanoic acid, formamide, dimethyl formamide, glycol, trichloromethyl chloroformate, oxalate, anhydride acetic acid, and acetic acid, etc. It is used as synthesis raw material for sulfonic acid methyl pyrimidine, sulfonic acid armour oxygen pyrimidine, antitussive agent hydrobromide, etc. Methyl formate can be used as solvent for cellulose nitrate, cellulose acetate, pesticides carbendazim, and it also used as smoke agent and microbicide gels for fruits, tobacco, grains.
